Collaboration & Communication

Standard 6.

Teachers collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators and the community to support student learning.

It takes more than one teacher, it takes a group of teachers, a team of administrators and a community of support to keep a program going strong.

Collaboration and communication are crucial for running an efficient and effective program. My favorite role as a teacher is being an advocate for my students, which includes being their strongest supporter when dealing with administration and budgets.

We’ve achieved significant victories in the program at WHHS, such as equipment and software upgrades. Over the past two years, we’ve purchased new computer systems, laptops for students to use at home, and the latest software for these systems. We even received a generous donation from one of our advisory committee members, Marcus Thomas, thanks to our students effectively communicating their enthusiasm for learning design.

Maintaining a strong program requires more than one teacher. It takes a team of teachers, administrators, and a supportive community.
